Four years ago on our 1st birthday we hosted a wetlands planting here at Kahikatea Farm in Poukawa so we'd like to invite you back to have a look at the plantings four years on. This is definitely meant as a celebration not a working bee but we will have more plants available if you'd like to stick one in the ground while you're here! (or even 'lovingly plant' one!)
When: Sunday 11th July 10am - meet for a cuppa 10.30am - walk down to the wetlands to see the plantings from 4 years ago and 2 years ago and possibly plant a few more Followed by a pot luck lunch and birthday cake! Please bring a plate of finger food to share (nothing that needs cutlery please).
Who: all members of the Havelock Nth, Napier and CHB permie groups, old and new. old and young!
Where: 383 Te Mahanga Rd, Poukawa Directions: Take SH2 south from Hastings and Te Mahanga Rd is the 1st left after the Peka Peka wetlands. Or if you're coming from CHB, head north up SH2 and when you see the HB Today Hastings 18km sign, turn right into Poukawa Rd, then left into Te Mahanga Rd.
What to bring: plate of food to share, gumboots and appropriate clothing for the weather - we will carry on rain or shine.

This two hour workshop will give you an introduction to the different minerals that plants need, what weeds can tell you about the soil, different types of fertilisers and how to use them, green manures and compost, plus plenty of opportunity to ask questions about your own site. Date : Saturday June 26th , 10am-12pm Venue; Kahikatea Farm, Poukawa.
